Gloria enjoys working with people who are ready to make positive changes in their lives happen and who are done waiting for them to happen on their own.
Her specialty is dealing with entrenched depression, anxiety, and unresolved trauma.
Things you might hear during a session with Gloria:
"You can't make good decisions with bad information."
"What do you want bad enough that you're willing to put yourself through therapy?"
"I'm not the therapist for everyone and that is ok. I'm not supposed to be."
"I don't care about your feelings. You need to care about your feelings."
About Lee of the Stone Counseling
For those wondering about my business' name...
The name, Lee of the Stone Counseling, is inspired by a book I read when I was in elementary school called Mrs Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by Robert C. O’Brien.
Mrs. Frisby, a widowed, mother mouse was trying to find a way to get her family safe because plowing season was near. She was worried about the pending annual move because one of her children was sick and he wouldn't survive the move. After speaking with an owl, she was advised to get help from the rats because her home needed to be moved to the "lee of the stone."
This place, the lee of the stone, was the safe side of a large rock in the field that would protect the family while her baby continued to get better.
This idea captured my heart even at that young age; in the middle of danger, there can still be a safe, protected space to heal. I've carried it with me all these years.
I hope that this captures the essence of the work that I do.
Life doesn't always allow us to escape. Sometimes we have to live in the chaos and in the danger zone and we can't make it go away, but we can still find a place to be safe, heal, and grow...
…in the Lee of the Stone.
